The first time I wrote a CV for someone else, I was 17 years old.

My Dad had just been made redundant, and he asked me, his only son, for some help formatting and re-writing his CV.

Being the loving son I am, I obliged.

I was horrified at what I saw.

My Dad's CV was 4 pages long.

He had stuff going back 25 years which wasn't even relevant to the jobs he was applying for.

Even at 17, I knew that whoever was going to read this was probably only going to glance at it at best and was probably pretty bored at work... I know I would be if I spent all my time reading CVs.

I trimmed his CV down to one page and wrote it how I thought it should be written.

He got 4 calls and two job offers within two weeks.

Turns out I was pretty good at it, and I started doing it for more and more people.
